Gaper Day

April 1st Every Year

A mountain tradition. April Fool’s Day is a traditional Spring right of passage for those who live in mountain towns. The day can provide large amounts of entertainment as locals do their best to poke a little fun at the tourists with which they have shared the slopes with throughout the season.

A “gaper” is a slang term for “out of towner/beginner” in the Rocky Mountain region. The party is sure to be on and off of the slope. Get costumed up and enjoy this ski town celebration. Start riding the Thunder Chair at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort around noon to take in the action.

Mind your P’s and Q’s. Do not get so reckless that the local law enforcement officers find you in their sights. Utilize public transportation and be safe.
