Del Mel Jamaican Restaurant

When visiting the Naples Florida area in late October 2012, I ran across Del-Mel Jamaican Restaurant. When traveling, I always look for the “authentico” food experience. Sometimes it takes a little research and asking around, other times you just get lucky and stumble upon a truly great dining experience. The Sweet Tea is absolutely delicious.

The food is amazing and definitely made with Love. The proprietor, Pauline, takes care in creating authentic Jamaican/Caribbean dishes. Her restaurant space is quite possibly the cleanest place on the planet. In my 10 or so days in the area, I ate there 3 times. After discovering the place, I brought along some friends and family, all were impressed with the quality of the food.

Pauline’s jerk sauce is incredible, it is served on the side so that you can monitor your spice intake. The lunch specials are well portioned and well balanced meals for a moderate price. The food is all very healthy. From the dinner menu the Jerk Baby Back Ribs are my go to meal of choice, the Curry Goat is also right up there. All meals are served with rice & peas, steamed cabbage, and fried plantain. The menu tops out around $18. With so many restaurants in the Naples area, its hard to find the good ones, put Del-Mel on top of your hit list.

The space is quaint and has an “island feel.” If it is not too busy, Pauline can provide some delightful conversation. Carryout seems to do a brisk business for her, so do not hesitate to call ahead if you will be passing by. Located at the intersection of US 41 Tamiami Trail and Rattlesnake Hammock road, facing US 41.
