Octoberfest

The Snake River Brewery holds quite an extravanganza. The brewery tends to be quite busy all day long with individuals celebrating the Harvest and the coming of Fall. Keeping with tradition, “Salzburger Echo” will be providing the oomp-pah music. Stein’s will be for sale.

October 4, 2019

The Wort Hotel will be hosting an Octoberfest event with a Polka Band. They will be serving food specials and $1 off all draft beers from 11am until 11pm. The Hof Band will be providing traditional polka music from 7:30-11pm, no cover charge.

Fireman’s Ball 2019

Miller House

The Miller House in Jackson Hole is a historical landmark. Located on what is now the National Elk Refuge. The Miller Cabin complex consists of three buildings that were the residence of Robert A. Miller, the first superintendent of Teton National Monument. A house, a barn and a cabin built by Miller. The property was eventually transferred to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in what became the . The buildings are a component of the closely related Grace and Robert Miller Ranch.

Robert Miller was born in in 1863, and took up permanent residence in 1885, settling on land along Flat Creek. A prominent local citizen, Miller helped to organize the town of Jackson, Wyoming in 1901. He was the president of the local bank. His wife served two terms as mayor of Jackson in the 1920s.

The original cabin was Miller’s home during his time with the Forest Service. The adjoining two story house was used as the headquarters for the National Elk Refuge in its early years. Follow Broadway East from the Town Square to the National Elk Refuge Road. Go left and follow the road 3/4 mile to the Miller House on your Left. You can tour the house daily from 10am to 4pm, there is a small gift shop on site. Admission is free.

Wildlife Tours

Expert guides will lead you on the adventure of a lifetime. Their local knowledge is key to finding the wildlife and understanding how these animals move throughout and relate to this vast and varied ecosystem. These tours will also touch on Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, depending upon which type of wildlife tour you choose.

The best wildlife viewing can be found in the early mornings and evenings. One can anticipate seeing elk, moose, bear, eagles, big horn sheep, buffalo, coyotes, swans and pronghorn antelope. The guide generally chooses a tour route based on their knowledge of recent wildlife sightings and the groups interests.

Tours will additionally cover some of the areas history and geology to round out this educational opportunity.

Concierge’s Tip

Some local transportation services do have guides that can tour people through the valley for an hourly private driver fee starting at about $90/hr. This is great for people short on time. One can always combine a short tour with airport transportation to fill the void on your travel day. If you have a 1pm flight or later, get a guide for a few hours on the way to the airport. The Elk Refuge and Grand Teton National Park are on the way after all.

General Information

Pricing for the various trips range from around $100 a person for adding onto a group tour up to $200+ a person for private full day tours. Some guides supple snacks and water, for full day adventures lunch is usually included.

Fall Arts Festival 2019

September 4 thru September 15, 2019

The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival has become one of the most widely recognized art events the Rockies. Each Fall thousands of art enthusiasts descend upon Jackson for this event. The 2019 Festival is scheduled to take place September 5th thru the 16th this year. The combination of art, music, and cuisine can overwhelm the senses.

The featured artists this year are Kathryn Mapes Turner and John Simms.

Don’t miss out on this extravaganza! There are a number of events occurring throughout this 11 day period. Local galleries will have featured artists in-house throughout the festival. The Fall Arts Festival has grown into quite an event over the years. The complete 2019 Fall Arts Festival Program is online!

Wednesday the 6thh the festival kicks off with the Western Design Conference Gala Event: Fashion and Jewelry Show.

Friday the 6th don’t miss the Palates and Paletes Gallery Walk, a local favorite. Palates and Palettes pairs local restaurants and caterers with galleries for an incredible social evening of fine cuisine, art and wine right downtown. A gallery walk like no other, downtown truly comes alive.

Sunday the 9th will feature the Taste of the Tetons. Valley chefs, restaurants, and caterers put their best culinary work on display for sampling. Each taste ticket is $1. Tastes generally range from two to four tickets. In addition to the open-air tasting fair, participants will enjoy the Annual Takin’ It to the Streets, a juried art fair featuring 40 local artists, and the Rotary Supper Club’s Wine Tasting and Silent Auction! Also on the 10th is the Takin’ it to the Streets event featuring 40 local artists.

Saturday the 14th the Quick Draw competition and auction is also quite popular, celebrating its 21st year as part of the annual Fall Arts Festival. The “Quick Draw” features nationally, regionally, and locally recognized artists who will demonstrate their skills at this unique alfresco event. One-of a-kind artwork will be auctioned off following the ninety minute creative process where spectators will watch artists paint and sculpt and create before your eyes. I truly enjoy this event, don’t miss out on this opportunity!

Sunday the 15th enjoy Art Brunch Gallery Walk brunch and festive beverages at this closing-day celebration of the Fall Arts Festival! Brunch, Bloody Marys and spectacular art.

There is certainly no shortage of things to do while the Fall Arts Festival is in town!

Wednesday Evenings

The Jackson Hole People’s Market occurs on Wednesday evenings from 4pm to 7pm. Running from May 29 thru September 18, 2019. The market occurs at the Phil Baux Park at the base of Snow King Mountain. The growth of the market has been enjoyable and a pleasure to watch. The market’s popularity simply reinforces the fact that Americans are finally getting back in touch with local produce.

The shift in awareness of healthy, locally produced produce and its positive effect on local economies is great to see. The new location at the base of Snow King allows great access for East Jacksonites. It is also located close to the rodeo grounds for those looking for a pre-rodeo fix.

There is generally some music and the Phil Baux Park has a giant jungle gym, 2 large bouldering features, and a few covered picnic areas right at the base of Snow King Mountain. There is a very relaxed mid-week atmosphere that the market seems to exude.

Do not miss out on the mid-week mixer at the base of the King!

Concerts on the Commons in Teton Village on Sunday evenings throughout the summer have developed into quite the night. Kicking off at 5pm and generally wrapping up around 9pm. The “Commons” area in Teton Village serves as an intimate outdoor concert venue at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The family friendly nature lends itself to a fun night out for the whole crew. There are a number of food and beverage options available. Many folks will make a picnic out of the event. Bring a blanket, stretch out on the lawn, and enjoy the show.

The JacksonHoleLive! concert series continues to provide quality entertainment to the community. Throughout the summer, live music is available at the Snow King Ballpark. The ballpark is located at the base of Snow King mountain. This all-ages evening concert series is a welcome addition to the music scene in Jackson. Coming to fruition after years of anticipation, hope, and hard work this has finally happened. Shows generally wrap up around dusk, and provide a welcome social event for visitors and locals. Dogs are not allowed on the ball field. A five block walk from the town square and convenient to the S.T.A.R.T. bus, makes it easy to get back and forth from the show. Title sponsor is the Snake River Brewery.

There are a number of local food vendors available with dishes that delight. There is a mix of beverages for all ages, ice cream and shaved ice. Don’t forget the lawn chair or blanket for lounging. A number of local acts will be opening for these bands throughout the Summer.

Bring the whole family out as this is an all-ages event. Please try to utilize public transportation or bicycles. Come early and enjoy the community atmosphere. There is a large children’s play area, featuring a number of activities to keep them entertained.

Wednesday, Friday & Saturday Nights 8pm

The Jackson Hole Rodeo is an event not to be missed. The rodeo occurs on most Wednesday and Saturday nights throughout the summer season. During the peak season(July & August) they occur on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. A true western event, featuring local talent. There are a number of events featuring roping and riding, and of course bull riding! The rodeo has been a staple on the Jackson Hole Summer calendar for visitors to the area.

Starting around 8pm and lasting until roughly 9:30 or 10pm. Tickets can be reserved in advance. Reserved tickets can guarantee covered seating in case of inclement weather.

Tickets prices range from $20 to $35, View Rodeo Schedule , simply select your date(s) to buy tickets. There is a $5 discount for online sales.

The Teton County Fair is not to be missed. One of the top summer events in the Jackson Hole area. Alive @ Five

Alive @ Five occurs on the Teton Village Commons and is a free program. An all ages event. This summer series provides both an educational and entertaining element to evening in Teton Village. Programs run from 5-5:45pm throughout the summer. The Village Commons area is just around the corner from the Aerial Tram and Mangy Moose.

Tuesdays-“Raptors” is an engaging program. This interactive educational presentation on the wildlife and ecology of Jackson Hole. This is an excellent way to further your knowledge of the area while exploring the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Wednesdays-“Winged Wednesdays” with the Teton Raptor Center. Come see live hawks, falcons, eagles, and owls. Learn about unique adaptations that make them the unparalleled hunters of the sky. See birds of prey at arm’s length and flying freely overhead.

Thursday-“Wild Things of Wyoming” looks at Wyoming specific species. An interactive and engaging experience. Learn more about the animals that make their home in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

A pre-dinner program to take advantage of if you are in the area. Teton Village continues to grow and provide a dynamic vacation destination. The entire family can entertain themselves is a quaint village atmosphere with plenty to do all day long. If you are not staying in the village, make the trip out and explore the area. There are also a number of free concerts in a series called “Concerts on the Commons,” which occur on Sunday Evenings.

Art Fair Jackson Hole

Art Fair Jackson Hole is held twice a summer. The art fair is held in Miller Park, just a few blocks South West from the Town Square on Deloney St. There are a large number of artists on display, a food court and live music. There are hands on art activities in which the whole family can participate. A number of local musicians perform throughout the weekend. One of my favorite Summer events, it has grown quite a bit over the years, but still maintains a unique atmosphere.

The Jackson Hole Art Association has cultivated this event into a great weekend of art. The fair was first held in 1965 in an effort to bring a diversity of artist to this quaint Western community. The three day format certainly is an enhancement giving folks a bit more time to make their way there. More than 150 artists are on display during this three day event. Be sure to stop by and take a look. Take advantage the opportunity to meet the artists and view an amazing array mediums. The wide variety of things to take in is why I enjoy spending a leisurely afternoon checking the art fair out. Entry fee is $5/person.

The event will run from 10am-6pm on Friday, 10am-7pm on Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sunday.

Wildflowers are Blooming!!!

The wildflowers are starting to pop all over the valley. Southern exposures in particular are showing color. Soon the bloom will be working its way North into Yellowstone. Truly amplifying the overall Park experience. The majority of the bloom is currently in the Southern end of the valley. For optimal viewing I would suggest hiking or biking in the Munger Mountain, Cache Creek, Game Creek or Snow King Mountain areas. All of these areas are starting to gain good color with a wide variety of species in bloom. The lower to mid elevations of Teton Pass have been delightful to explore over the last week as the flowers have begun to show their colors there as well.

Going into late June and early July the bloom should begin to work its way well into both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. It looks like it should be a good year for those seeking to take in the Western wildflower bloom while touring the area. Guided tours are a great way to gain some in depth knowledge of the area and can make it a pleasure to explore our vast ecosystem. Horseback riding, hiking and biking tours will allow a deeper immersion into this special time of year with a bit more solitude. Slow it down and enjoy what Mother Nature is sharing.

July 4th 2018 will be a fun filled day in Jackson Hole, actually the 3rd & 4th look pretty good. There is a lot to keep you busy from sun up to sun down. Be prepared for the crowds. There tends to be more vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic than any other day in the valley. It is good to find a nice parking spot, try the public parking garage located on Millward, then set out by foot or by bike. There will be some congestion getting out of and around town after the fireworks display.

Town of Jackson

July 4:

7AM to 10:30AM Street Breakfast, on Center St, by the Town Square.

10:30AM Fourth of July Parade. The annual parade begins on Snow King Avenue from the Rodeo Grounds to Glenwood, continues on Broadway, and ends on Willow Street.

2PM to 10:30PM Concessions, family activities, and live entertainment. This a fabulous community event. The Grand Teton Music festival will be broadcast live from Walk Festival Hall during the show on a Jumbotron video screen at 6pm.

5:30PM Live music at the Snow King Ballfield prior to the fireworks. Food and Beverages will be available.

6PM Watch the shootout on the town square. If you haven’t seen it, this nightly event is not to be missed.

8PM Check out the rodeo at the fairgrounds.

10PM Fireworks!!! Held at the base of Snow King Mountain. This annual event is put on by the Jaycees, and packs quite a punch. This will be the final year that the Jaycees will be hosting the fireworks, as membership has dwindled.

Teton Village July 3rd and 4th

Teton Village will be celebrating “Red, White and 2!” The village will be hosting two nights of fireworks and fourth of July celebrations on July 3rd and 4th.

July 3rd:Spend your night taking some great music in an intimate venue. Music starts at 7:00pm, with Whitewater Ramble as the headliner, followed by the only fireworks show in the area at 10:00PM.

July 4th: The music starts up with the Jazz Foundation of JH at 4:00 PM in the Village Commons. Grand Teton Music Festivals Music in the Hole simulcast from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, followed by Calle Mambo, bringing a high-energy, Latin and Salsa music to the stage. Another round of fireworks follow, starting at 10:00 PM. Food & Beverage Vendors will be on site and picnics are welcome. Please leave your pets at home.

Roller Derby

Roller Derby is Back!!

Come on out and cheer on the gals! A flat tracked style of derby is what you will find here, not the bruiser ramp style that often comes to mind. Since its inaugural season, there has already been a tremendous amount of community support. The first match was held in 2012 and drew an overwhelming crowd for its kick off event. Doors open at 6p.m. with the action starting around 7p.m. The cost is $10/Adults and $5/Children.

One would not know it is only their first year in the league by the way these ladies skate and play. There is some fast action combined with moments of pure finesse. The action is virtually non-stop. Jackson Hole Aerial Tram

The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram located in Teton Village offers dramatic views of the valley. A ride to the summit of Rendevous Mountain delivers you to 10450′ above sea level in about 18 minutes. There are a number of hiking trails that can be accessed from the summit. People will often use the tram to gain elevation and access trails for multi-day expeditions that extend into Grand Teton Nation Park.

Marmots are often seen scurrying around once you reach the summit. You are immersed in the Teton Range. On clear days views will extend into Idaho, additionally you can view the Absoroka, Gros Ventre, Big Hole, and Snake River Mountain Ranges. The braided channels of the Snake River lie before you on the valley floor. Wildlife is often spotted on both the ride up and down on the tramway. The tram depart about every 20 minutes.

Grab a waffle at Corbet’s Cabin while soaking up the views. The waffles are often worth the trip alone. Click for more Summer Tram Information. After checking out “the top of the world,” spend some time checking out the base area. Teton Village has remained quite quaint in comparison to other major ski resorts, there is plenty to do, with an ever expanding array of activities being offered.

In the next few years some big changes will be occurring at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, creating an even more diverse atmosphere.

Jackson Hole Shootout

The Jackson Hole Shoot Out Gang is once again hitting the streets for its Summer run. The Shootout goes off Monday thru Saturday at 6pm on the North East corner of the Town Square. Great entertainment for the entire family.

Get there a bit early to secure a good spot for viewing. Old Western entertainment for the whole family.

Million Dollar Music Fest

Country super-group, Midland, will headline the inaugural Million Dollar Music Fest, a free, all-ages, big-stage concert on the Jackson Hole Town Square, on Sunday May 26 from 5 – 10pm. This event is presented by the iconic Cowboy Bar and co-sponsored with the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, this concert is designed to energize Old West Days by celebrating Jackson’s western heritage and the cowboy culture.

While the show is free, a limited number of VIP tickets will be available for purchase and will include prime, side-line viewing with access to a complimentary bar and food, private restrooms and a souvenir lanyard. VIP Tickets will be available for on-line purchase starting April 1st at 9am MST.

Old West Days

The Memorial Day Weekend in Jackson Hole Has a lot to offer. A full schedule of events keeps the town buzzing with activity.

The Mountain Man Rendevous and Antler Rendevous are ongoing throughout the weekend at the Teton County Fairgrounds.

Don’t miss the parade downtown on Saturday morning at 10am. There is a Brew Fest held on the town square on Saturday as well, which provides a good opportunity to sample some locally crafted beers, and beers from around the region.

5:00 – 10:00pm: Country super-group, Midland,will headline the inaugural Million Dollar Music Fest, a free, all-ages, big-stage concert on the Jackson Hole Town Square. Presented by the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and co-sponsored with the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce.

Beer, wine and food will be available for purchase inside the grounds.Nashville-based, LogiCom will continue its relationship with The Cowboy Bar to produce this rain-or-shine event. Other acts will be announced soon. There will be an after-party at The Cowboy Bar featuring outlaw-country favorites, The Darci Carlson Band.

ElkFest/Antler Auction

May 18 & 19, 2019

Each Spring the local boy scout troop collects antlers shed by elk each Winter on the National Elk Refuge here in Jackson. After collecting and sorting the shed antlers they hold an auction downtown. A large portion of the proceeds go towards funding operations on the National Elk Refuge. Should you decide to jump into the bidding, the prices are per pound, not per antler bundle.

The town square hosts the “antler auction” by the Boy Scouts and additionally has many collector/vendors with antlers from elk, deer, moose, bison and bighorn sheep horns etc. The antler sheds tend to be quite impressive, especially the large matched sets which can fetch thousands of dollars per pair.

Many trophy racks such as this can be seen and bid on or purchased.

The auction itself is quite a site. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation generally has a display of trophy specimens. This event draws some fairly large crowds for being so early in the season. More information on Elkfest.

7am: Antler lots for B.S.A. Elk Antler Auction ready for viewing

7am-1pm: Food Court provided by Jackson Youth Baseball – Breakfast includes sweet potato pancakes, coffee, and bottled water. Lunch includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, soft drinks, and bottled water.

8am-2pm: Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Great Elk Tour – The Premier traveling conservation exhibit with some of the largest bull elk in the world! Sponsored by the National Elk Refuge.

9am-3pm: Private Antler Sale north of the Town Square on Center Street by Rotary Club.

The World Famous Jackson Hole High Noon Chili Cook-Off

Kicking off at High Noon(when else?): Teams compete to deliver the best tastes of chili in the West! Professional and amateur teams will take pride to serve you up some of the best chili to wind down the ElkFest weekend. $5 entrance fee. Rain or shine, Town Square is the place to be! A refreshing selection of beer and other beverages will also be available to cool tasters’ palates.

Get ready for mesmerizing cinematography of hummingbirds that will make your jaws drop! Special guests include three-time Emmy-winning producer Ann Johnson Prum and inspiring citizen science organizations.

1:30 p.m.: Spring Earth Fest begins, with family activities, including live Teton Raptor Center birds, crafts, citizen science opportunities, virtual reality, and a nature-themed scavenger hunt with prizes. Learn about monarch butterflies, Teton wildflowers, and more!
1:30 p.m.: “Glaciers of the Winds.” Glaciers provide life to agriculture, plants, animals and human communities. However, the glaciers of the Wind River Range have been shrinking at an accelerated rate over the last 40 years. This hour-long WyomingPBS film explores the scientific exploration and impacts of Wyoming’s changing glaciers.

2:30 P.M.: Live Raptor Show with Teton Raptor Center in the Center Theater.

3:30 p.m.: “Super Hummingbirds.” Emmy-winning filmmaker Ann Johnson Prum will show one of her award-garnering videos that comprise jaw-dropping footage of hummingbirds. How did they get such stunning images of these amazing, difficult-to-film creatures? You’ll have a chance to ask Ann in person.

5:00 p.m.: Short Film: “Climb It Change.” This 15-minute documentary with Jackson biologist Trevor Bloom discusses impacts of climate change on mountain environments. Being screened for the first time in Jackson, it is a perfect way to kick off our panel discussion.

5:15 p.m.: “Citizen Science & Climate Change. Citizen science is changing what we know about our natural world and the coming of Spring. This illuminating panel discussion will include experts from the UW Biodiversity Institute, Alpine Science Institute, The Nature Conservancy, and Ann Johnson Prum, senior producer of the upcoming PBS American Spring LIVE.
