The director has put a wonderful twist/flavor into this version of Shakespeare’s classic. Shakespeare’s most feared and popular tragedy, Macbeth spins a tale of magic, destiny, betrayal, and ambition as we watch the timeless push and pull of one of the most powerful couples in literary history.

The director has put a wonderful twist/flavor into this version of Shakespeare’s classic. The Tempest is set on a remote island, the sorcerer Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skillful manipulation. He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio’s lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miranda to Alonso’s son, Ferdinand.

Director Edgar Landa has put a wonderful Western twist/flavor into this version of Shakespeare’s classic. Some place names have been localized to bring it even closer to home.  I attended the first weekend showing and was thoroughly entertained.
