The Jackson Hole One Fly competition is a celebration of fly fishing. For over 25 years this competition has pitted avid fisherman in a hallowed tournament on the Snake River.
The Jackson Hole One Fly Event organizers have formed a strategic partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to manage the financial resources generated each year. The NF&WF conserves healthy populations of fish, wildlife and plants, on land and in the sea, through creative and respectful partnerships, sustainable solutions, and better education. It’s a perfect match in that the One Fly provides the financial resource and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is the steward and manager of that resource.
The One Fly and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation meet these lofty goals by awarding matching grants to projects benefiting conservation education, trout habitat protection and restoration, and natural resource management specific to the native cutthroat fishery in the Snake River watershed and it tributaries.

The 2013 tournament is a s follows:
TEAMS
- Each team will consist of four fishing contestants. Alternate contestants may substitute on a daily basis.
- Only one member of a team may be a professional fulltime or part-time fresh or salt water fly fishing guide or captain. A professional is defined as anyone who, within the last 5 years, has received income for services performed as a guide or captain.
- Two contestants will fish in each boat and will be from different teams.
EQUIPMENT
- Contestants will furnish their own fly-fishing equipment. Each contestant may bring one or two fly rods in the boat.
- Type of fly rod and reel is the choice of each contestant.
- The use of fly floatant or other accessories will be at the discretion of the contestant. Only floating fly lines are permitted. Sinking leaders six feet or less in length are permitted.
- Use of motors on boats during event hours is prohibited.
- No real or artificial fish attractants, such as scents, are allowed.
EVENT FLIES
- Any conventional fly pattern (dry, wet, nymph, streamer, etc.) may be used as long as it is no larger than size #6 and is 3x or shorter in length. The guide will compare each competition fly to a template.
